Traceability: From the oyster farmer to the consumer

Concerned by the freshness of its products as well as the health of the consumers, Maison BeauSoleil has its own adequate and automated traceability system. As the company buys oysters from more than 50 producers on the east coast of New Brunswick, the company understands the importance of such a system.

This system keeps complete, detailed and accurate records of the oyster’s path until it reaches the consumer, through all stages of processing.

Its importance?

In the event of a problem, a well structured traceability system allows to recall products that must, as soon as possible, be withdrawn from the market. It is not an easy task since the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) requires that all operators in the food industry keep detailed information of all their suppliers and their customers with the nature of the product and its delivery date. With our system, we have the opportunity to be proactive in case of problems.
